Biographical / Historical
John Canfield, an architect, was married to Rose Marie Slagle Canfield (28 April 1899 - 24 December 1973), Dallas (1900 - 1955) and John Berlin Slagle's (19 August 1905 - 17 January 1987) sister.
These three of the seven Slagle siblings came to Los Angeles from Montana and were originally from North Carolina. John Canfield was an architect and military veteran, serving in both world wars. Dal was a musician and had a radio show on KFOX, John Slagle was one of the musicians on the show.
They all moved from Los Angeles to the Pomona Valley where John and Mary Slagle opened the Gingham Girl Donuts franchise until the company filed for bankruptcy.
